Combining the best field demonstrations, animations, and graphics, this 3-hour 30-minute DVD course teaches you everything you need to know to plan, design and install structured cabling networks and systems in new construction. The course features industry experts and certified CEDIA instructors Grayson Evans and Rich Green and covers the basic technology of each network type including voice, broadband data, broadband RF, security, and distributed audio. It then takes you through a complete custom home installation project demonstrating all planning, prewire, trim-out, configuration, and testing tasks. Over 2 years in development, this is an all new replacement of our previous Residential Infrastructure Wiring course.
Part 1 - Explains the basic principles of residential networks including voice, data, broadband RF, and distributed audio networks. This part also explains DTV off-air and satellite products and systems, cable and connector types for each network, and distribution system components.
Part 2 - Begins in a 5100 sq. ft. custom home and covers system planning and design for each network type, creating the necessary documentation, and how to solve various signal distribution and integration problems.
Part 3 - Continues with the system rough-in and prewire steps and takes you through the installation of all rough-in components and installing and protecting all cable for the job. It demonstrates proper labeling, tie-down, and protection techniques.
Part 4 - Covers the system trim-out, configuration, and testing and includes cable termination and testing, installing the security and home automation systems, audio equipment, data network equipment, structured cabling components, off-air and satellite equipment. Each network is configured and tested to make sure it meets design specifications.
